A long time ago ..
.. the Bleech square looked like thís. Today's market place wasn't there, yet. Larochette lived on the textile industry, and on the Bleech the woven sheets were spread out in the sun. In fact, "Bleech" means exactly that: bleaching place or bleaching meadow.
On the field the rock still was to be found, that gave Larochette ("the little rock") its name.
The cross, on the left in the image, is still standing there. Here it was where justice was spoken.
The old church, that stood within the old city walls, is gone. There is a parking area there now. The new church is on the Bleech, right next to our Auberge.
